Against the Static

This week on Mood Ring, I’m turning up the dial Against the Static.

Static is sameness. Static is silence. Static is the noise that algorithms feed us until we forget how much more there is out there. But static also means stillness the kind that keeps us from moving forward, keeps us quiet, keeps us disconnected.

Community radio is the opposite. KOOP 91.7FM is live, unpredictable, and deeply rooted in the pulse of Austin. It’s messy and beautiful, powered entirely by volunteers, and it only exists because of listeners who choose to support it.
