Hudson valley sustainability fashion week

This Friday I’ll be stepping behind the runway to assist designer Annie McCurdy of So Vicki with her collection for Hudson Valley Sustainable Fashion Week’s Organic Runway.

Yesterday I met with Annie in her studio where she works out of a former clothing factory in Newburgh and builds her collections from deadstock and found materials, producing small-batch and often one-of-a-kind garments. There’s a beautiful circularity to making new clothing from the remnants of an earlier garment industry, inside a building that once manufactured clothes itself.

Eight Hudson Valley designers will be showing collections made from repurposed textiles and produced locally, including So Vicki, Clare Bare, ennui, KNUD, Kacy Coyle, la vie après l’amour, Last Night on Earth, and Touch Threads.

Then on Saturday, September 26 · 11 AM–5 PM, the weekend continues with the first Slow Fashion Fair, workshops, mending, clothing swaps, fiber art, makers, music, demonstrations, and other experiments in textile circularity.
