SEPTEMBER MOODBOARD

September is arriving. We’re past the eclipses, the lazy days of summer, and the heat of urgent social and physical activity. The haze begins to lift and the temperature cools, but we hold on to summer’s citrusy undertones: lemon yellow, squash blossom, flashes of orange, blooms not quite ready to disappear. We begin to settle in, to pick up a good book, light a candle, and move toward the fall equinox with a little more intention. September is contradictory in the best way: shorts with sweaters, bare legs beneath heavy coats, crisp cotton against fuzzy knits, bone, fringe, leather, wool and woven texture. There’s something slightly offbeat and playful in the layering, a tension between refinement and unruliness. Energy expands differently now, less outward and frenetic, more focused and rhythmic, as if the nervous system itself is beginning to cool. Dewy mornings, earlier shadows, warm light through the windows. We are not fully in autumn yet, but we can feel ourselves arriving.
